Vancouver-based go karting stand-out to compete for championship in Honda Civic Si
(Vancouver, Canada) -- Remo Ruscitti announced today that he's been signed by Compass360 Racing (C360R) to drive the team's #71 Honda Civic Si in the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car championship.
Ruscitti drove with C360R's Grand-Am squad at a few events last season, is coming off a solid run with the team at Circuit of the Americas last weekend. "The idea was to use the Austin event as a warm-up for World Challenge, and to maybe gain a little bit of an advantage there," said Ruscitti. The World Challenge Touring Car season kicks off at COTA on May 16th.
"Remo has been one of those young drivers that we've been keeping an eye on," remarked Team Principal Karl Thomson. "We had him run with us a few times last year, and he proved to be very, very quick. His performance at Austin was really good, and he's a driver we plan on developing through our World Challenge and Grand-Am programs over the coming years."
This announcement marks the first of three full-season World Challenge cars that C360R will field, an effort that closely mirrors the team's Grand-Am program. "We're working to put three really strong championship-capable drivers in our WC Touring Car team for 2013," noted Thomson. "We know the Civic coupe is a well-sorted package and by signing Remo we've got the first piece in that puzzle." Additional driver announcements are expected over the next few weeks.
